2010 World Rally Championship

Federico Villagra tested the Ford Focus RS-WRC 08 in Great Britain

(Córdoba, Monday 8 February). Current Argentinean Rally champion Federico Villagra made his first test of the year last week at the wheel of the new Ford Focus RSWRC in which he will compete at world level as part of the Munchis Ford World Rally Team. Together with José Díaz, the South American driver was able to drive for about 270 kilometers in a 5-km. stage close to the M-Sport team base (directed by Malcolm Wilson), called Greystock Forest.

In a day with very low temperatures and some snow falls, "Coyote" got to grips with the car that he will start his 2010 WRC campaign in Mexico (4-7 March). "It was really good to drive the Ford again because before Rally Mexico it will be difficult to get the right time for more testing. We worked a lot with José Díaz and also with help by Martín Christie, going through a 5.5 km. stage where we found some snow and ice, so that we always used gravel tires especially designed for that surface. This was our first work in 2010 and I think it will be valuable by the time our first round of the World Rally Championship season comes."

After the test, Malcolm Wilson invited Villagra to show the M-Sport factory in England, where he also got to know the Ford Fiesta S2000 he will drive in IRC Rally Argentina.
